A fellow artist and dear friend of ours, Katie Ka Vang, has been recently diagnosed with Stage 4 Anaplastic Large T-Cell Lymphoma. Katie is a beautiful person inside and out, and her illness has come as an utter shock to all of the family, friends and community that has been touched by her love, friendship, work, and devotion to the arts. I met Katie about ten years ago when I was still a photo student at MCAD. Katie was the lead actress in one of my college friend’s film where I was the set photographer. We quickly became good resources for each other, then grew close over the years through our shared circle of friends. For as long as I’ve known her, I have always admired Katie for her positive spirit. Katie is also a very good friend of Doua (my hubs), who’s known Katie for even longer than I have. To help Katie pull through this difficult time, we have decided to turn our annual portrait give-away into a fund-raiser in her honor. To make the prize even grander than it is, we’ve also recruited the services of talented Make-up and Hair Stylist, Marina Moua, and the fabulous Angel Yang, Fashion Stylist and Owner of Secrets Fashion Agency (both of whom are also friends of Katie). We look forward to a fun contest this year and hope that you’ll help us raise our goal of $1,500 for Katie.
